In a corporate environment, a design system succeeds by producing consistency. Are we big enough for a design system?

The threshold is coordination cost, not headcount. Once two or more squads build interface independently and you are losing real time reconciling what they produce, a system pays for itself. Before that, a shared component library and agreed conventions do the same job for a fraction of the cost. A studio that recommends a full system with governance to a fifteen-person company is telling you about their sales process.

What does it cost?
